Strong Authentication in iTivity - PAM, Active Directory, NTLM, NIS, Passwd

Secure by Default

iTivity makes it easy to implement secure remote access controls. By combining existing authentication infrastructure with secure defaults and configurable custom installers, iTivity delivers the best in security and easy of use. On Windows systems, only administrators have iTivity access by default. On Linux and Unix systems, only the root user has access by default. iTivity customers benefit from efficient and reliable remote access authorization.

Enterprise Integration

With iTivity you can reuse your current authentication mechanism to manage access control for you remote access solution. On Linux systems, iTivity supports both PAM configured authentication as well as traditional NIS and passwd authentication. On Windows systems, iTivity supports active directory or NTLM authentication and LDAP. For attended iTivity iAgent access, you may choose to disable the authentication at the iAgent in favor of a dialog to prompt the user for access permission.

Secure Access Groups

In addition to the standard username and password authentication at the iServer, iTivity supports the ability to securely group the available remote systems (iAgents). By configuring iTivity support domains, you can provide targeted and secure remote access via the iServer. For example, you can allow your individual customers to access only their systems via the iServer.

Remote Site Authentication

The iTivity remote access architecture provides separate and independent authentication stages at the iServer remote access server and at the host iAgent system. Audit logs of both authentication stages are stored in the central iServer and on the iAgent systems respectively.

You can configure the two authentication stages separately. You might setup PAM authentication on a Linux based iServer while using NTLM authentication on you Windows servers running the iAgent.

Another satisfied iTivity customer...

"The benefit of this product is two-fold. First, my company is in control of the Server. Some of our customers are uncomfortable with sending medical device/patient data through an unknown source. In this case, with iTivity, we own the server and can confidently tell the customer that their data is going to a trusted site. Second, ease of use. It is easy for us to setup. It is easy for the customer to use and it is easy for our Service organization to help our customers."
